A few weeks ago a Sunday School Class @ my church gave the BSM funding to purchase Bibles to give way on campus. Today @ BSM FREE LUNCH we discussed “What’s so important about the Bible?” with 51 of our closest friends while enjoying pizza brought by our dear friends @ Alana Lane Baptist Church. Our friends James & Kara was back. After a great conversation about what Scripture says about itself, Tamara’s Tips on reading Scripture regularly, & what to ask yourself as you’re reading Scripture I ended with “If you don’t have a Bible of your own, come find me after lunch … I had the pleasure of giving TWO Bibles to two students. One who said, “I just told my husband that I wanted to buy a Bible but didn’t know where to buy one or what kind to buy.” These two ladies are friends and said they were going to call each other & hold each other accountable to reading Scripture. I also gave them my cell # & told them to text me if they have questions as they read through John together.
PRAY that God uses His Word to deep the spiritual journey of each of these ladies.
Allow me to tell you about two students we met as a result of BSM FREE LUNCH.
We met James two weeks ago. He came in late and ask if there was any non-pork related food. After a short conversation I assumed he was Muslim. During our conversation “Is Jesus the only way to God?” James asked “What if you knowingly sin does grace cover that & would Jesus forgive you if you do?” After lunch he ended up in a conversation with my brother, Tim, who was visiting before he flew back to Germany. James is a Seventh Day Adventist from South America. James was brought up in the small part of the Seventh Day Adventist’s that practice a strict Kosher diet and adhering to Levitical Laws. He admitted that he had strayed from his faith and was working to get good enough to be accepted by God. Obviously, we talked to him about how GRACE fits into our faith.
Kara grew up Catholic. Today she showed me scares on her arm from where the nuns hit her with a ruler as a child. She believes in God, Jesus, & the Bible. But admittedly struggles with “trusting in one person or one book.” She comes every week and is open to spiritual related conversations. I told her that I loved how open and honest she is about her faith journey and that I'd be happy to continue to talk about spiritual things whenever she'd like.
PRAY for both James and Kara that God would continue to reveal Himself to them and draw them to himself.
